If you have an existing system which you are looking to upgrade then you will find that central heating systems have evolved a lot over the past few years and there are many new choices that were not previously available. Modern, energy-efficient radiators are now available in a vast range of styles - from vintage to ultra-modern. Some you might be hard pressed to recognise as being a radiator at all! The newer 'intelligent' controls can adjust the time your heating comes on depending on the outside temperature. You can also control the room temperature much more accurately so your boiler only fires up when it needs to. These more sophisticated controls, coupled with more energy efficient boilers, enable significant savings to be made in gas consumption, and help to reduce your carbon footprint.
Under floor heating offers several advantages over a conventional radiator system: The heat is more evenly distributed. There are no visible radiators to take up space in the room. Because the heating elements are distributed over a larger area they can operate at a lower temperature, which is more efficient.
Solar powered water heating is the most popular form of solar energy used in the UK. The solar panels provide heat to the hot water system, which is supplemented by a boiler. A typical solar heating system, if appropriately sized, should provide around 50-70% of the domestic hot water requirements.
